Sudi Silalahi mendapat kepercayaan Presiden Susilo Bambang Yuhoyono sebagai Menteri Sekretaris Negara mengantikan Hatta Rajasa. Sebelumnya Sudi Silalahi telah menjabat sebagai Menteri Sekretaris Kabinet SBY periode 2004-2009.
Pria kelahiran Pematang Siantar 13 Juli 1949 itu memang dikenal dekat dengan Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, bahkan Sudi Silalahi diibaratkan sebagai tangan kanan sang Presiden.
Bukan semasa Presiden saja Sudi Silalahi dekat dengan Presiden SBY, sejak presiden SBY menjabat sebagai Menkopolkam, Sudi Silalahi sudah menjadi sekretarisnya.
Peranannya dalam kabinet SBY juga cukup besar, bahkan pada tahun 2004 SBY mempercayainya untuk memanggil calon Menteri ke kediaman Presiden di Cikeas Bogor Jawa barat.
Sudi Silalahi mengawali karir militernya setelah lulus dari Akabri pada tahun 1972. Beberapa jabatan strategis yang pernah dijabatnya adalah Pangdam V Brawijaya Surabaya pada tahun 1999. (Syarif/LD*)
